In this retreat we will gather together to dive deep into the experience of healing touch....

The main focus of the retreat lies on "THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM" which we approach with a beautiful sequence that inter-connects the treasures of three different philosophies and traditions: Thai Massage, Osteopathy and Craniosacral Biodynamics.

We will learn how to free up the boney, muscular and fascial structures which are involved in our breathing process.
We will learn how to approach the lungs mindfully by palpating the different layers from the outside to the inside: from the skin, through bones, muscles, fascia to the actual organ and its content.
We will learn techniques from Traditional Thai Massage (such as accupressure points, stretches, rocking techniques and classical energy line work),
Osteopathy (oscillations, pumpings, mild adjustments) and Craniosacral Biodynamics (integrative techniques into the craniosacral system) which all focus on the respiratory system.

ABOUT THE THAI MASSAGE PRACTICE:
We will work holistically throughout the whole body, from the feet to the head, applying the principles and philosophies of the different traditions:

- Classical stretches and the basic foundation of the Energy Line System from Thai Yoga Massage to increase the life force and its free flow throughout the body

- Precise joint mobilization from Osteopathy to increase or bring back mobility to the main joints

- The gentle yet very deep work of Biodynamic Healing to active the self healing processes in the body

THAI MASSAGE
Thai Massage is an ancient healing art based on the principles of yoga philosophy: the practitioner makes use of the physical body as a tool to access the subtle bodies in order to bring physical, mental and spiritual healing and balance. Blockages can be released and the energy restored to its natural flow with the application of rhythmic pressure on therapeutic points and energy lines, the mindful stretching of muscles and precise joint manipulation.

As this massage is working on the different body layers (koshas) the release works on an emotional, energetic and physical level. Thai Massage could be seen as a moving meditation: When performed with awareness, equanimity and loving kindness, practicing Thai Massage trains the body, the mind and the heart. It becomes a mutual meditation and a powerful energetic exchange with many benefits for both giver and receiver.

OSTEOPATHIC APPROACH
It is the integration of osteopathic principles and techniques from Thai Massage. A bridge between East and West. It’s a form of bodywork that combines extraordinary creative and powerful Thai Massage techniques with the precise and gentle touch of osteopathy:
- Traditional Thai  Massage’s varied and powerful stretches, using long leverage techniques across muscle groups, its acupressure work on energy lines and the creativity of dynamic movements.
- Osteopathy’s release of tissue tension and work on restriction of mobility on boney, myofascial, visceral and cranial level.

CRANIOSACRAL BIODYNAMIC APPROACH
Integrated CranioSacral Biodynamics is a profound healing process which can influence deeply held patterns of disease - both physical and psychological – which accumulate throughout life as a result of injury or illness and may be subsequently held in the tissues of the body, leading to ill-health and dysfunction. Applying a biodynamic approach has the potential to transform patterns of restriction and resistance at a very fundamental level, thereby stimulating an environment in which health may be restored.

COURSE PREREQUISITES:
This retreat is totally open to participants of all backgrounds.

If you are new to Thai Massage or bodywork in general, this retreat will give you the basic foundations of Thai Yoga Massage - with some additional flavors from the osteopathic and biodynamic traditions.

For those having already some experience in this or any other kind of bodywork, there will be space to refine techniques individually, sharing experiences and further discussions so we can make our treatments more efficient according to the need of your patients.

A strong emphasis will be given to working with good posture, in a relaxed manner, with the application of vipassana and metta meditation. There will be a focus on the quality of touch, as all healing happens as a result of the mental state, mental contents, concentration and emotional state of the giver,

So instead of a course with a fixed curriculum, you should imagine a course where everybody receives material according to their level of practice.
